He was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Ewing, Neb., to Roland D. and Jessie (Fish) Palmer. He came to Washington as a young man and attended Auburn Academy in southeast King County. He later graduated from the J.M. Perry Institute in Yakima where he had studied piano tuning and refinishing. He married Erma Canaday on Nov. 30, 1941, in Chehalis, Wash. He taught for several years at the Perry Institute before opening his own practice which he operated until the mid-1950s when he went into farming in the Yakima Valley. He enjoyed painting and working with pastels and charcoal and was always happy to be involved in home mechanical projects. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Survivors include his wife Erma of Condon, his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Howard Gustafson of Pacific, Wash.; a brother, Cecil Palmer of Quesnel, B.C.; and two sisters, Margaret Clinton of Granger, Wash., and Laurene Shiedler of Ephrata, Wash. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Shawna Jones-Marsh, Kimberly Webber, and Kathleen Mattison, and five great- grandchildren. Private interment was at the Chehalis Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 15 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Grange. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Condon.
