Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 28, 2006, 1:24 am The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 11, 1983 Robert Michael Palmer, 42, a resident of The Dalles for 19 years, died Nov. 2 in an automobile accident near Pendleton. He was born Nov. 24, 1939 in Portland. Mr. Palmer moved to The Dalles 19 years ago and married Phyllis Schwarm Feb. 15, 1964. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Union Pacific Old Timers Club and the United Transportation Union. He was also an active member of The Dalles City Volunteer Fire Department and muster club and was active in restoration project of antique equipment and was a member of the Antique Tractor Association and was a collector of antique farm equipment. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, and two sons, David and Andy Palmer, all of The Dalles; his mother, Margaret Roher, Gresham; his father, Jess Palmer, Portland; four brothers, William Palmer, Portland; Douglas Palmer, Seaside; Scott Palmer, Portland and Jack Roher, Gresham, and two sisters, Jan Onchi, Gresham, and Peggy Kinkade, Beaver. Funeral services were Friday at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Egerton Long officiating. Burial followed at the veteran section of Parklawn Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Dennis Rogers, Russ Ordway, Russ McDonald, Ray Lamarche, John Doyle and Bob Wedgewood. Honorary pallbearers Jim Green, Charles Norris, Mike Moore, George Telfer, Larry Lange, Larry Renard, Mike Johnson, Dan and Jim Burke and George Holcomb. Memorials are suggested to Judson Baptist College. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
