The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 4, 1987
Douglas Alan Owens, 33, died in a local hospital Aug. 26.  He was resident of 
The Dalles for the last year, formerly a resident of Grass Valley.

Mr. Owens was born in The Dalles Jan. 25, 1954, to Harold and Betty Jean 
Owens.  He was raised in Grass Valley and worked for 10 years for Sherman 
County Insurance Agency.  He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

He is survived by his parents, Harold and Betty Owens of Dallesport; two 
brothers, Harold David Owens of Rufus and Robert Henry Owens of Prineville; a 
sister, Carol Hann Harris of Athena; five nieces and one nephew.

Private graveside funeral services were held at the Odd Fellows Cemetery.  
Public memorial services were held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
officiated by Rev. Francisco Valejos.

Honorary pallbearers were Matt Beers, Gary Jaros, H.A. (Bud) Fargher, Daniel 
Claboe, Jerry Wentz, Patrick Neary.

Memorials are suggested to the Cascade AIDS Project, in care of Spencer, Libby 
and Powell Funeral Home or a charity of choice.
