Surnames: O'Meara, Yates, McCoy Patrick "Patty" Diebert O'Meara, 79, a resident of The Dalles, died at the local hospital on Saturday, May 3, 2003. He was born August 10, 1923, in Wasco (Oregon), the youngest of five sons to Patrick Gregory and Ruby Mae (Yates) O'Meara. He grew up and attended school in Sherman County. He served in the US Navy during WWII, then returned to the Mid-Columbia area. He started working construction as an electrician and in the 1950's and 60's he owned and operated Eastern Oregon Electric Company. At the same time he owned and operated the Shamrock Restaurant and Lounge with his brother, Steve. He was a member of The Dalles Elks Lodge, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 48 and Wasco American Legion. He enjoyed yard sales and helping his friends. He married Edna June McCoy on December 14, 1957, in Stevenson (Washington) and she preceded him in death in August of 1997. Survivors include his son, Shawn O'Meara, The Dalles; grandchildren, Contessa, Nick and Marnee O'Meara, Walla Walla, Washington and Breanna O'Meara, Salem (Oregon); his brother, Phil O'Meara, Wasco. His brothers, Jim, Richard and Steve O'Meara preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, at Spencer, Liby & Powell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wasco Sunrise Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Sherman County Museum, P.O. Box 173, Moro, Oregon 97039.
