Surnames: O'Brien, Dick, Pawson, Cadwell, Gibbs, Boman, von Borstel, Tindall, Richard "Butch" Arthur O'Brien, 58, a resident of Moro (Oregon), died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 21, 2003. He was born November 22, 1944, in Klamath Falls (Oregon), the younger of two children to Donald S. and Sarah Alice (Dick) O'Brien. He grew up in Prairie City (Oregon) and graduated from high school there in 1963. He played pro baseball in the Boston Red Socks minor league for a year then attended Eastern Oregon State College and served in the Oregon National Guard. He married Janet Pawson on April 22, 1967, in Portland. He started work for Pacific Northwest Bell in the Portland area and retired as product manager after twenty-five years. After his retiement, he started a gishing guide service on the Columbia and John Day Rivers, In 1998, he settled in Sherman county. O'Brien was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing farmer and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Frances Mary (Cadwell) Tindall O'Brien, whom he married October 14, 1998, in Reno, Nevada; his children and their spouses, Erin and Jeff Gibbs and their daughter, Courtney, Gresham (Oregon); Jill and David Boman and their children, Hannah and Luke, Okanogan, Washington; his stepchildren and their spouses, Lindsay and Seth von Borstel and their son, Breck, Yigo, Guam; Kim Tindall, Moro; Bunky and Kelly Tindall and their daughter, Sydney, Lebanon (Oregon) and Pee Wee Tindall, Wasco (Oregon). Memorial services will be held at the Wasco Methodist church at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, with Reverend Chuck Boman officiatin. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
