The Dalles Chronicle, August 22, 2005
     Delbert Guy Oades, 81, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home 
Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005.
     He was born in The Dalles, July 21, 1924, the second of three children to 
Ely “Guy” and Florence Helen (Howell) Oades. He grew up on a Pleasant Ridge 
wheat farm and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1941. He served in the 
Army during World War II. 
     He married Yvonne “Bonnie” Marie Greiner on Jan. 17, 1947, at St. Peter’s 
Catholic Church in The Dalles. He worked at Mauser’s, Willamette and 
Lumberman’s building supply.
     He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Eagles Lodge and 
American Legion. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending 
time with his family.
     He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Oades, The Dalles; his 
daughters and their spouses, Delene and Chuck Handley, Salem; Jeanne and Bill 
Hankel, Portland; Carol and Mark Beer, The Dalles; Teresa and Eric Skov, 
Seattle; Kathy and Howard Woolard, Grants Pass; and Nancy and Mike Taphouse, 
The Dalles; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his sister, Viola 
Anthony, The Dalles; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death 
by his parents and his brother, Richard Oades.
     Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home 
on Thursday, Aug. 25, from 2 p.m. through the Recitation of the Rosary at 7 
p.m. and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at 
St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. Todd Unger as celebrant. Interment will 
follow at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.

Heights Rd., The Dalles, OR 97058 or Hospice of the Gorge, 751 Myrtle St., The 
Dalles, OR 97058.
