The Dalles Chronicle, January 26, 1996
     Curtis R. (E.) Nye, 98, a former resident of The Dalles, died in Tigard 
on Jan. 22, 1996.
     He was born Sept. 4, 1897 in Eugene.
     He attended school in Eugene, in Idaho and in The Dalles.  He was 
married  in 1923 in Portland and lived most his married life in The Dalles.
     He was a brakeman for the railroad.
     He loved to travel and was a member of the New Voice Club (Cancer 
Society).  He had served in both World War I and World War II.
     Survivors are a daughter, Yvonne Kuppenbender, Tigard; three 
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
     No funeral service will be held.  Memorials may be made to the American 
Cancer Society.
     Young's Funeral Home of Tigard is in care of arrangements.
