The Dalles Weekly Reminder, December 20, 1984
     Vernon O. Norval, 87, died in a Portland rest home, Dec. 13.
     He was born Oct. 18, 1897 at Tygh Valley to a pioneer couple, William 
Norval and Flora (Brittain) Norval.  He worked in the Williams Clothing Store 
in The Dalles approximately seven or eight years.
     He moved to Klamath Falls in 1928 where he worked in a clothing store for 
several years before purchasing a store in Chiloquin where he lived for about 
30 to 40 years.  His wife, Mary, died in 1979.
     Survivors are a son, Bill, Salem; two grandsons, Jeff, Portland; Doug, 
Salem; a granddaughter, Maria Kepple, Portland; a sister, Alda Morrow, Wamic; 
8 nephews and 3 nieces.
     Memorial services at the Wamic Community Church Tuesday Dec. 18.  The 
Rev. David Schneider, assisted by the Rev. Dan Elam, officiated.  Pallbearers 
by:  Lyle and Verl Fraley, Clair Norval, Normal Norval, Norval Morrow and 
Wesley Magill.  Burial was in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Wamic.
     Hennessey, Goetsch and Magee Funeral Home, Portland was in charge of 
arrangements.
