The Dalles Chronicle, March 15, 2006
     Esther G. Nolan, 89, a resident of Hermiston, died March 6, 2006 at Good 
Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston. 
     She was born Sept. 5, 1916 in Kilgore, Neb., to parents Henry and Lula 
Bell DeBore Fisher. 
     She was raised and attended schools in Nebraska. She moved to Hood River 
in 1934 and later moved to The Dalles, where she married Kenneth Long. They 
lived in Biggs for a time before returning to The Dalles. They later divorced 
and then she married Fred Nolan in The Dalles and they moved to Portland in 
1953. They returned to The Dalles in the early 1960’s and lived there until 
moving to Umatilla in 1967. For the most part she has lived in the Hermiston 
and Umatilla areas since. She was an active member of the Hermiston Seventh 
Day Adventist Church, working with the prison ministry and at the Hermiston 
Junior Academy. She enjoyed gardening, canning, family get together’s, potluck 
gatherings, and spending time with her family and friends.
     She is survived by her daughters: Patricia Gay, Umatilla, and Janette 
Buchanan, Hermiston; son Dusty Nolan, Hermiston; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-
grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Nolan, her parents, three 
sisters Doris, Marge and Ruth; and twp brothers, Edward and Ralph.
     A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 18 at 6:30 
p.m. at the Hermiston Seventh Day Adventist Church, Hermiston.
     Those who wish may make contributions in Esther’s memory to 3ABN or ADRA 
c/o the Hermiston 7th Day Adventist Church at 855 W. Highland Ave. Hermiston, 
Oregon 97838.
     Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, Oregon is in care of arrangements.
