Wakley iwakley@msn.com and August 3, 2006, 12:22 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 28, 2006 Ray Ekepati Niko, 36, died Tuesday May 2, 2006, in Seattle, Wash. He was born on July 4, 1969, in San Francisco, Calif. He was born to Pusiula (Lelea) Tuia, and raised by his parents Ekepati and Gauula Niko. He was raised in San Francisco, and graduated from South San Francisco High School in 1987. He met his wife Pauline (Olomua) Niko on May 22, 1988, and then moved to The Dalles. A laborer in the construction industry, he enjoyed watching his kids at sporting events, golfing, cars, and listening to music. He was a dedicated San Francisco 49’ers fan, enjoyed his shoe collection, was a hard worker and very family oriented. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Niko; three sons Robert, Ray Jr., and Andre; two daughters Desirae and Fa’alelei all from The Dalles; sister Fa’alelei and Robert Taupa’u and their children Krystal Lei, Isaac Robert, and Joshua Niko, Daly City, Calif.; sister Alice and Mose Paulo and their children Jacob, Katrina, Jordan, Kaela, Kourtney, and Kandace, Pittsburgh, Calif.; sister Lucy and John Ingram and their children Sharne’e, and John, Georgia; brother Ekepati Jr. II and Cesna To’o Niko and their children Penina, Jojo, Ekepati Niko Jr. III, Masele, Isaia, and Keyani; sister Olga and James V. Davidson and their children Shayna, Niko, Terrance, Teddy, Nephi, Malaea, Sariah, Mathias, and Talisua, Utah; brother Patrick Niko; sister Louisa and Fitu Laupati and their children Precious, and Andrew; sister JoAnn and Fa’aolataga Maga and their children Ashlee, Shawn, and Jonah; brother Tuinanau Tuia Jr.; and brother Joe Tuia. He was preceded in death by his brother Ekepati Niko Jr., and brother Lenny Niko. A visitation will be held Friday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Spencer, Libby, and Powell Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. and a graveside service at IOOF 18th street cemetery.
