The Dalles Weekly Reminder, May 6, 1988
     Alvin "Allie" C. Nielsen, 91, died April 27 at a local nursing home.  He 
was a life-long resident of The Dalles.
     Mr. Nielsen was born in The Dalles on Nov. 25, 1896.  He was a cherry 
farmer here since 1903, and his orchard was named Treaty Oak Orchard in 1952.  
His parents were Hans C. Neilsen and Elevena Klindt Nielsen.
     He is survived by his wife, Elsie Emerson Nielsen of The Dalles; two 
daughters, Jean Peterson of The Dalles and Patricia Johnson of Springfield; 
two stepchildren, Jack Elwood of Portland and Constance Elwood Waltz of Reno; 
four grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a 
sister.
     Services were held at Smith Callaway Chapel followed by mausoleum 
entombment at IOOF Cemetery in The Dalles.  Honorary pallbearers were Lonnie 
Dawkins, Pat O'Meara, Philip Klindt, Bob Greiner, Bob Peterson and Lewis 
Nichols.  Pallbearers were Cleve Williams, Stan Davey, Peter Elwood, Roger 
Smith, Paul Klindt and John Elwood.  The Rev. Henry Albrecht officiated the 
service.
