     John A. Nickols, 92, a resident of White Salmon, died on May 21, 2005.
He was born Jan. 11, 1913 to Clyde Arthur and Mary Ellen Nickols.
     Most of his life was spent working as a logger.
     He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for many years, was 
Master of the Grange, commissioner of Cherry Lane Fire Department, drove 
senior bus for many years and was an active member of AARP.
     In his younger years he was quite a dancer and always loved going to 
senior dances. He also enjoyed hunting and the times he and his wife spent 
camping.
     Survivors include two daughters, Bessie Ellen Oneal, Bingen; and Linda 
Christine Thornberg, White Salmon; and a daughter-in-law, Faye Nickols of 
White Salmon.
     He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Audrey, a son, Clyde 
and all of his siblings except his sister, Margaret Loose of White Salmon.
     Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 27, at Gardner Funeral 
Home in White Salmon. Interment will follow in the White Salmon Cemetery.
     Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, P.O. Box 36, Hood River, 
OR, 971031 or Klickitat County Senior Services.
