The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 30, 1987
     Anne Marie Nichols, one of the founders of the Senior Bus Service in The 
Dalles, died Oct. 21 in a Portland hospital at the age of 71.
     Mrs. Nichols was born in Timber Lake, South Dakota, March 27, 1916.  She 
lived in The Dalles in the 1930s and moved away for awhile, moving back again 
27 years ago.  Along with her work establishing the Senior Bus Service, she 
was also active in the Sorosis Park Association and Tyee Mineralites.
     She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Lewis E. Nichols of The 
Dalles; a daughter, Anne Marie Duyck of The Dalles; two grandsons, Patrick 
Duyck of Ashland and Mathew Duyck of Portland; a granddaughter, Christine 
Duyck of The Dalles; two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
     Memorial Mass was held at St. Peter Catholic Church officiated by Rev. 
Ronald Maag. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church.  Smith 
Callaway was in charge of arrangements.
