The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 22, 1984
     Helen Hazel Newland, 72, died at her home in The Dalles Nov. 16.  She 
lived previously in Longview, Wash.

     She was born in Herman, Neb. on Dec. 19, 1911.

     She was a member of the Church of Christ in The Dalles.

     She is survived by three sons, Dale Newland, Redmond, Wash.; Harley 
Newland, The Dalles; and Richard Newland, Lynwood, Wash.; two daughters, 
DeLores Carstensen and Rosalie Naos, both of Longview; 13 grandchildren; two 
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Effie Meyers and Alice Lemmert, both in 
Nebraska.

     No public funeral service occurred.

     Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ Memorial Fund or to 
charities.
