She was born April 8, 1911 in Enumclaw, Wash., the third of four children to Victor and Hortence (Fletcher) Frondorf. She was raised in and graduated from high school in Auburn, Wash., and then attended business college. Throughout her life, she took great pride in taking college classes of interest. She married Walter Henry Nester on Aug. 31, 1930 in Olympia, Wash. After World War II, they lived in the Portland area and in 1960, they moved to The Dalles and bought the Bob Brown Texaco Distributorship, currently operated as Hattenhauer Distributing Company. She was a member of the First Christian Church, The Dalles Country Club, Duplicate Bridge and enjoyed gardening, walking, bridge, golf, tennis, aerobics, accounting, sewing and reading. She was frequently seen walking downtown in her Texaco hat. She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Carol Ann (C. Ann) and Jim Ravine, Zillah, Wash.; Mary Lee and Doug Hattenhauer, The Dalles; grandchildren, Pete, Alex and Tanna Hattenhauer; a great-granddaughter, Jordyn Alexis Hattenhauer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt, in August 1999; two brothers and one sister. No public funeral services will be held. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
