Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 9, 2006, 12:09 am The Dalles Weekly Reminder, December 8, 1983 William Lincoln Myers, 66, a resident of St. Helens for the past 10 years and a former longtime resident of The Dalles-Rufus area, died Dec. 2 at his home. He was born Oct. 22, 1917 in Portland. Mr. Myers was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Navy. He married Betty Jane Morris in Long Beach, Calif. on March 3, 1945. He worked as a tugboat pilot for the Columbia River ferry until he moved to St. Helens where he and his wife operated a drive-in restaurant. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in St. Helens and the Eagles Lodge in The Dalles. Survivors include his wife in St. Helens; three sons, William R., Beaverton; Walter L., St. Helens, and Richard L., Warren; a daughter, Marcia Bail, Oregon City; three sisters, Evelyn Harrison, Wichita, Kan.; Betty Wade, Stockton, Calif., and Lloyd, Yokasuka, Japan; and three grandchildren. Funeral services are Friday, 1 p.m. at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home and burial will be at Sunrise Cemetery in Wasco. Pallbearers will be Curt Neal, Harvey Hansen, Stuart Macnab, Donald Addington, Bufford Hayes and Dan Linhares. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
