The Dalles Chronicle, January 26 1996
     Edmund "Ed" Cornelius Murray, 69, a resident of Vancouver, Wash., died in 
that city on Jan. 23, 1996.
     He was born May 25, 1926 in The Dalles, the youngest of three children to 
Robert L. and Eva (Coose) Murray.  He gew up and graduated from The Dalles 
High School in 1944.
     He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, then went to 
Pendleton to work at the Pendleton Hotel.
     He married Marilyn Dodge in Goldendale on Aug. 28, 1960.  He worked as an 
assistant manager at The Dalles Elks Lodge from 1959 to 1961, then managed the 
Dalles Country Club before managing Elks Lodges in Hermiston and Corvallis.
     In the early 1970s he worked as a millwright at Cascade Locks Lumber Mill 
until his retirement due to health reasons.  He moved to Las Vegas in 1986 and 
worked as a security officer.  In May of 1995 he relocated in Vancouver.
     He enjoyed golf, baseball, bowling and pool.
     He is survived by his four children, Karen L. Klapprich and her husband, 
Nick, Cascade Locks; Kathryn L. Murray, Portland; Kristen L. Murray, 
Troutdale; and Kenneth L. Murray, Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Michael, 
Ryan and Alex; and a brother, William C. Murray, Santa Rosa, Calif.  He was 
preceded in death by his sister, Helen Kortge.
     Viewing visitation will be at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home today 
from 2 to 7 p.m. and from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27.  Funeral services 
will be held at the funeral home starting at 11 Saturday,  Interment with 
veterans rites will follow at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
     Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of 
Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles, OR., 97058.
