She was born June 11, 1918 in Kellogg, Kansas, in the living quarters of the Sante Fe Railroad Depot. Her mother was the ticket agent and her father was the section foreman. She was the only child of French L. and Etta A. (Barger) Woods and was raised in Kansas. She married Charles E. Richey in Caney, Kansas. He died June 3, 1942. She moved to Sherman County and married Jerrold “Jerry” B. Morehouse on Dec. 18, 1960 in Wasco and then moved to The Dalles in 1988. She loved to garden, raise flowers, crochet and enjoyed Sherman County activities including the county fair. She is survived by two sons, Harley and his wife, Donna Richey Woods, Pettigrew, Ark.; and French L. and his wife, Ada May Richey, Collinsville, Okla.; her daughter, Kay and her husband, Richard Roth, Boring; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrold B. Morehouse who died in October 1998. Graveside services will be held at Wasco Sunrise Cemetery on Monday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Reasoner officiating. Smith Callaway Chapel are in care of arrangements.
