Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 3, 2007, 6:48 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, April 30, 1982 Raymond P. Moffitt, 62, a resident of The Dalles since 1958, died Monday at the local hospital. He was born Jan 14, 1920 in Pilot Butte. Mr. Moffitt was a plantman for J. H. Baxter & Co. in The Dalles, and a veteran of World War II. He was also a member of The Dalles Post No. 19 American Legion, and LPIW Local 2785. Survivors include his wife, Hazel L., The Dalles; four daughters, Sharon Kinkade, Nyssa; Margaret Jackson and Katherine Gardipee, The Dalles; and Barbara Barnes, Benton City, Wash.; two brothers; James Moffitt, Okanogan, Wash, and William Moffitt, Roseberg; four sisters, Phillis Hollebaugh, Vancouver, Wash.; Dorothy Miller, Portland; Mary Randall, Prineville, and Stella Britz of Missouri; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were yesterday (Thursday) at Smith Callaway Chapel with the Rev. Thornton S. Gapen officiating. Military rites were performed by The Dalles Post No. 19 American Legion at IOOF Parklawn Cemetery Veteran’s section.
