The Dalles Chronicle, February 21, 2005
     Etna Lorraine Mitchell, 83, a resident of The Dalles died at a local care 
facility Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005.
     She was born May 4, 1921, in Williams, Minn., to Charley and Selma 
(Johnson) Sorrels and grew up there.
     She married Keith E. Mitchell in Williams on Christmas Eve 1941. They 
came to Oregon in 1959 and settled in The Dalles in 1960. Mr. Mitchell 
preceded her in death in 1982.
     She was a homemaker, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, Trailblazer 
basketball, and at one time had been an active league bowler. She was a member 
of Zion Lutheran Church.
     Survivors include her children and their families; son Roger and his wife 
Nancy Mitchell of The Dalles, Kenneth Mitchell of Cottage Grove, Martin 
Mitchell of Springfield, Harold and his wife Hanolee Mitchell of St. Helens, 
Ore., Kelly Mitchell of The Dalles, and a daughter Rosella and her husband 
David McGuffin of Eugene. Also surviving are brothers Elmo Sorrels of 
Williams, Minn., Cy Sorrels of Wisconsin, and Roy Sorrels of Warroad, Minn.; 
two sisters,Myra Sorenson of Warroad and Beverly Baines of Emporia, Kansas; 17 
grandchildren, 20 great-granchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
     Family graveside services will be held at Oddfellows Cemetery on Cherry 
Heights, Pastor Dorthy Nielsen presiding. Memorial contributions may be made 
to the American Diabetes Association or the Oregon Kidney Foundation.
