The Dalles Chronicle, July 9,   2006
     Russell “Hoot” Mills, 92, of Maupin, died June 30, 2006, at his residence.

     He was born in Wilmer, Minn., on Jan. 20, 1914, the youngest of six 
children to Ula and Maud (Etting) Mills.

     A lineman for the railroad, he was a member of The Eagles Lodge, and 
loved animals. He was an excellent steelhead fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed 
motorcycling and woodworking in his younger years. 

     He is survived by his granddaughters, Renee Burley, Robin Ehlke, Rhonda 
Mills and Shelby Wolfe all of Vancouver, Wash.; his daughter-in-law Marilyn 
Mills of Vancouver and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 
his son, Gary Russell Mills, and his parents.

     A private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory, with 
Spencer, Libby, and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
