Wakley iwakley@msn.com and June 16, 2006, 12:26 pm The Dalles Daily Chronicle, January 16, 1996 Lois May Miller, 74, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care center on Jan. 12, 1996. She was born May 6, 1921 in Portland, the eldest of three children to Stacey Atlee and Lulu Bell (Applegate) Wilson. She grew up in Rufus and graduated from Rufus High School in 1939. She married Newton "Buck" George Miller on May 5, 1940 in Rufus. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and they lived in several Oregon towns before settling in The Dalles in 1971. She was a homemaker and volunteer at the Senior Center and the hospital. She enjoyed gardening, reading and playing pinochle. She is survived by her two daughters, Winona M. Roberts, Boardman, and Ila L. Wakley, Everett, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Alan, Bobby and Andrew Roberts, all of Pendleton; Annette Prizzi, Redwood City, Calif.; Mary Boyle, Everett; Cindy White, Bothell, Wash.; Stacey Buxton, Seattle; Michael Buxton, Lynnwood, Wash.; and Rachael Denley, of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; eight great- grandchildren; and a sister, Vivien Butler, Portland. Her husband died on Jan. 14, 1975 and her parents and a brother, Stacey A. Wilson, also died earlier. Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 19, from 2 to 7 p.m. and 8 to service time on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home and interment will follow at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, sent in care of Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles, OR, 97058.
