She was born Jan. 30, 1911, to Lloyd and Margaret (Hastings) Bolton, the second of three daughters. Most of her life was spent around The Dalles and Dufur areas. In 1932, she married Fred Carl Miller. They moved to Canby in 1941, but returned to The Dalles in 1947, where they farmed the family wheat ranch in the Dufur/Boyd area until 1972, when they sold the ranch and relocated in Woodburn. She was a member of the Woodburn United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, traveling, writing stories, playing pinochle and family gatherings. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Gruchalla (Phil) and her sister Veda (Bolton) Sexton, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; eight grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Shirley Deane (Miller) Howard; and a sister, Enid F. Bolton. A funeral service was held earlier. Memorial contributions may be made to The Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children or the Willamette Valley Hospice.
