The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 15, 1983
     Iva Delora Melton, 81, a resident of Rowena since 1962, died Saturday at 
the hospital. 
     She was born Feb. 28, 1902 in Ridgeway, Mo., and married her husband, 
Olen, in Ridgeway March 16, 1919.
     Mrs. Melton was a member of Rowena Baptist Church, Azalea Rebekah Lodge, 
the Rowena Ladies Club and the AARP.
     Survivors include her husband, Olen, Rowena; a son, Robert, The Dalles; a 
daughter, Mrs. H. R. (Kathleen) Redden, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; eight 
grandchildren; and a sister, Goldie Reed, Redding, Calif.  Another son, Wayne, 
died in 1978.
     Funeral services were yesterday (Wednesday) at Spencer, Libby & Powell 
Funeral Home with the Rev. George Clark officiating.  Burial was at The Dalles 
IOOF Cemetery.
     Casket bearers were Orville Partch, Charles Rashone, Gary Kuppenbender, 
Willard Johnson, Carl Nielsen and Kark Thomsen.
     Memorials are suggested to the Oregon Heart Fund.
