Surnames: McKune, Diell, Webb, Shrewsbury, McGowan Iva Nellie McKune, 96, a former resident of The Dalles, died Monday, April 1, 2003, at a care center in Yakima (Washington). She was born on July 11 (no year mentioned) to George and Maude (Diell) Webb in Pueblo, Colorado. She grew up in The Dalles and graduated from high school here, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University in 1930 and an MS from St. Vincent's hospital in 1935. She was a member of the American Dietitian Association, the American Association of University Women, the Grange Oregon Prison Association and the Order of Eastern Star. She also was a Christian Scientist. She had been a lifelong resident of The Dalles before moving to Yakima in 2000 due to health considerations. Survivors include two nieces, Laura I. Shrewsbury, Ashland (Oregon), and Carmen M. McGowan, Yakima. A farewell service in her honor will be conducted at the IOOF Cemetery in The Dalles on Friday, April 4, at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors, 201 N. Second Street, Yakima, Washington 98901.
