The Dalles Chronicle, January 4, 2006
     Earl McKinney, 94, a resident of Umatilla, died at his home on Dec. 30, 
2005.
     He was born Sept. 20, 1911 at Belmont, Ill. to parents, Ernest and Minnie 
(Alley) McKinney.
     On Nov. 1, 1935 he married Zela Marie Ruggles.
     They made their living farming and ranching on upper and lower Rhea Creek 
and lower Buttercreek.
     He enjoyed hunting or fishing and memorable highlights were a successful 
moose hunting trip to Alaska with long time pal, Barton Clark, and the fishing 
trip to Kenai, Alaska with all his sons catching salmon, halibut and great 
experiences.
     He is survived by three sons, Malcolm, Leland, and Alan; eight 
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Zela, in 2002; parents, Ernest and 
Minnie McKinney; brother, Bill McKinney.
     At his request, there will be no services held. A private family 
inurnment of cremains will take place at the Wasco Cemetery at a later date. 
Disposition was by cremation.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Sherman County Historical 
Society, Moro, OR 97039.
     Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, Oregon is in care of arrangements.
