Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 31, 2006, 1:52 pm The Dalles Chronicle, September 19, 2006 Donald Lloyd McKay, 78, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006. He was born in Anyox, BC, Canada on Sept. 11, 1928 the second of four children to Lloyd H. and Margaret B. (Coates) McKay. He grew up in Princeton, BC, where he graduated from Princeton High Class of 1946. He married Betty Doreen Olson in Allenby, BC, on Jan. 16, 1948. He served in the RCAF-Canadian Air Force and lived in The Dalles for 45 years. He worked at the aluminum plant until his retirement, was a member of the Eagles and enjoyed being a volunteer fireman, building, woodworking, helping others and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Betty McKay, The Dalles; his two daughters, Colleen Craig, Hood River; and Karen Schlesinger and her husband Craig, Roseburg; his brother, Bill McKay, Worley, Idaho; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private family services were held with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Senior Center, 1112 W 9th St., The Dalles, OR and Hospice of the Gorge, 751 Myrtle, The Dalles, OR 97058.
