McJunkin, 90, a resident of The Dalles, died at the local hospital on Friday, March 4, 2005. She was born Jan. 25, 1915, in Mahnomen, Minn., the youngest of six children to Charles and Emma (Mayer) Dendiger. She grew up in Cedar County, Neb., and attended school in Hartington, Neb. She attended nursing school in Nebraska and was trained as a registered nurse. She married Jasper LaVern “Vern” McJunkin on May 13, 1936, in Wayne, Neb. The family moved from Kansas to The Dalles in 1961, and to Scappoose in 1966, returning to The Dalles in 1995. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. Madelyn is survived by her son, Alan L. McJunkin, The Dalles; four daughters, Dorothy Ann Sierks, Moore, Okla., Eva F. Hensarling, Houston, Virginia L. Chandler, Le Roy, Kans., and Sue Lange, The Dalles; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 20, 1971; and her brothers, Edward, Harold, Raphael, Sylvester and Arthur. Graveside services will be held at Threemile Road Odd Fellows Cemetery (formerly known as Parklawn Cemetery) at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8., with Father Todd Unger officiating. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
