He worked for 22 years for the Army Corp of Engineers, retiring in 1979. He was involved in the Fort Dalles Rodeo Association. He manned the west outgoing gate for 18 years and was awarded the President’s Award and a personalized buckle for his dedication and service. He loved the bull riding event and the bull called “Bodacious.” He was a member of the Dalles City Police reserves and was active with the VFW. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara June (Johnson); and children Lynette Nelson Waldo, Dennis Darrel McCubbin, Douglas Elvar McCubbin and Timothy Charles McCubbin. A graveside service was held Wednesday, March 30, at Cascade Locks Cemetery at 1 p.m. A reception followed at the Cascade Locks Community Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cascade Locks Fire Department c/o Anderson’s Tribute Center, 1401 Belmont Road Hood River, OR 97031.
