The Dalles Chronicle, November 19, 1985
Restauranteur and orchardist John McClaskey Sr. of The Dalles died at home 
Tuesday.  He was 81.

He came to The Dalles in 1938 and he and his wife, Elsie, became associated 
with The Horn Restaurant.  That restaurant burned in 1942 and from 1942 to 
1946 the McClaskeys operated the Blue Goose Restaurant.  In 1946 a new 
restaurant was built at the site of The Horn and it was named The Recreation.  
The McClaskeys operated it until 1979.  She died in August of 1980.

The McClaskeys were also the owners of Hazel Dell Orchards in The Dalles.

Survivors include a son, John McClaskey Jr., The Dalles and a daughter, Karren 
Bakken.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home.
