He was born Oct. 3, 1915 in King City, Mo., the youngest of three children to Aubrey Earl and Lydia (Crawford) McCall. He grew up and graduated from high school in 1933 in Elkland, Mo. After his schooling he worked on the family farm until moving to The Dalles in 1936. He married Eva Marie Olson in Vancouver, Wash. on May 29, 1938. He worked for a private contractor removing railroad tracks, then worked in Sherman County on a wheat ranch and for the road department, prior to settling on Brown’s Creek Road near The Dalles and starting with the Wasco County Road Department. He retired in 1977 after 16 years as county road supervisor. He was a member of the Elkland Methodist Church and enjoyed his family, grand and great-grandchildren and working on his farm. Survivors include his wife, Marie, The Dalles; three sons and their spouses, John McCall, Tualatin, Robert and Toni McCall of Portland; Jim and Nancy McCall, The Dalles; seven grandchildren and spouses, Kathy and Darin Weigart, Vancouver, Wash.; J. D. McCall, Seattle; Kristen Schneider and Staci McCall, both of Portland; Tawnya and Rob Garrett, Jeff and Cheri McCall and Matt McCall, all of The Dalles; seven great-grandchildren; Heidi, Courtney, Benjamin, Robin, Andrew, Raven and Nicole; a brother, Clark McCall, Edmunds, Okla; and a sister, Carmen Taylor, Springfield, Mo., and aunts and cousins. Viewing visitation at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home will be on Thursday, July 27, from 2 to 7 p.m. and from 8 to 10 a.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home chapel on Friday, July 29, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Asa Jenson officiating. Interment will be at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made to charities of the donors choice, sent in care of the funeral home.
