The Dalles Weekly Reminder, February 24, 1983
     William Cecil Mayfield, 88, a resident of The Dalles since 1942, died 
Feb. 16 at a nursing home in The Dalles.
     He was born July 15, 1894 in Roseburg.
     Mr. Mayfield grew up in Wamic and retired from the J. H. Baxter Wood 
Treatment Plant in The Dalles.
     Survivors include his wife, Rose May, Rowena; stepchildren including Joan 
Kathleen Dyball, Mosier; three brothers, Joseph, Odell; Max, Portland and 
Nathan, Yakima, Wash.
     Funeral service was Friday at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with 
the Rev. George Clark officiating.  Burial followed at The Dalles IOOF 
Cemetery.
