He was born in Rochester, England on Oct. 31, 1927. He came to the United States in February 1949. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and was the recipient of the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He became a U.S. citizen while serving in the Marine Corps in San Diego, Calif. He met Dolores Harrelson in February 1961 and they were married Aug. 18, 1961. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and joking with friends. He was fond of working outdoors and in his garage. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dolores G. May, Pine Hollow; his six sons and their families: Michael Harrelson and his wife Nancy; William Harrelson and his wife Dianne; Patrick Harrelson and his wife Marilyn; Philip Harrelson; John May and his wife Kathy; Steven May and his wife Robin; daughters Germina Demers and her husband Gary; and Janet Sheoship and her husband Cameron; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at the Barlow Gate Grange in Wamic on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Stan Wall presiding.
