The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 24, 1995
     Rowan "Slim" Clark May, 91, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on 
Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1995.
     He was born May 2, 1904, in New Albin, Iowa, the second of three children 
to Hiram G. and Nellie M. (Sanders) May.  He grew up in Montana.
     He married Margaret Mae Tenborg on July 2, 1928 in Havre, Mont. and they 
lived in several locations before moving to Portland in the 1940s.  They moved 
to The Dalles in 1954, where he worked with BPA as a mechanic until his 
retirement in 1972.
    He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Al Kader Shrine and enjoyed the 
outdoors, hunting and fishing.
     He is survived by his children and their spouses:  Albert "Hap" and 
LaDonna May of LaCenter, Wash., David and Wyn May of Bradford, Pa., Shirley 
Richards of The Dalles, Hazel Stewart of Portland and Verla and Jerry Rogers 
of Woodburn; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-
grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Norman and his wife, Dorothy Tenborg and Luke 
Lajeunesse; sisters-in-law, Doris Godlinton and Beryl Tenborg; numerous nieces 
and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, on March 21, 
1989 and his brother, Cyril.
     Services were held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home at noon on 
Friday, Nov. 17 with Asa Jenson officiating and Masonic Rites by Richard 
Peters.  Interment at Riverview Abbey in Portland.
