Geraldine Martin Surnames: Martin, Hall, Zachary, Artzt, Farnsworth Geraldine "Gerry" Martin, 92, a lifelong resident of The Dalles, died at her home on Saturday, February 15, 2003. She was born November 22, 1910, in The Dalles, the second of three children to Willis W. and Grace (Hall) Zachary. She grew up in The Dalles and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1929. She married Paul "Bill" Martin on November 20, 1929, in The Dalles. She was a homemaker, farm wife and worked in the family's wholesale business, Mildred Sweets. She was a member of The Dalles First United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering at the senior center's re-run shop, reading, solitaire, sewing and visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Ruth Artzt, Wellington, Florida; Bill Martin and wife, Joan, Elma, Washington and John Martin, The Dalles; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1996, her brother, Kenneth Zachary, her sister, Mildred Zachary Farnsworth and grandson, Jay Martin. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with Reverend Jody Felton officiating. Interment will follow at The Dalles Parklawn Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Bill & Geraldine Martin Scholarship Fund, c/o The Dalles High School, 200 East 10th Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058.
