     Kathryn “Kate” Louise Martin, 60, of Moro, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, 
at the hospital in The Dalles due to an accident that occurred at the ranch in 
Moro.
     She was born Jan. 14, 1946, in San Mateo County, Calif., to Tom and Peggy 
Frishkorn. 
     She went to elementary school and high school in Albany, and was married 
to Richard Minshall in 1964. They moved to Goldendale in 1976, where they 
raised their three children, Richard, Julie and Leslie, west of Blockhouse. 
     She worked for Superintendent Herb Callan of the Goldendale school 
district from 1976-79, and as the Klickitat County Court Administrator for 
Superior Court Judge Ted Kolbaba from 1979-87. 
     She married Bob Martin in Moro in 1988, opened a flower shop and was the 
Sherman County Justice of the Peace from 1993 to 2001. She was currently 
helping her husband manage the Martin family farm, was an AFLAC Insurance 
district manager for the Mid Columbia area, and served on the board of 
directors of the Moro Medical Clinic and The Dalles Red Cross. 
     She spent most of her time doting over her kids and grandkids, gardening, 
cooking, and making arrangements for holidays and special gatherings. 
     She is survived by her husband, Bob Martin, Moro; her mother and step 
father, Peggy and Robert Johnson, The Dalles; mother-in-law Helen Martin, The 
Dalles; brother, Tom Frishkorn, Arizona; stepbrother, Jim Johnson, Lebanon; 
three children, Richard and Marcy Minshall, LaGrange Park, Ill.; Julie 
Minshall, Goldendale; and Paul and Leslie Hiebert, Gold Beach. Other survivors 
include stepchildren, Wendy and Bob Freitag, Seattle; Tammy Martin, Bend; 
Vicky Martin, Portland; Bob and Sherrie Martin, Moro; and grandchildren 
Michael and Jordan Hammett, Olivia Minshall and twins, Jackson and David 
Minshall, twins, Jacob and Kathryn Hiebert and Sara Hiebert, Merete Meador, 
and Talese and Keely Slay.
     Memorial services will be held at the Grace Brethren Community Church, 
1180 S Roosevelt in Goldendale at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, with Pastor Robin 
Neuschwander officiating. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in care of 
arrangements.
     Memorials may be made on her behalf to: the Moro Medical Center, 110 Main 
St., Moro, OR 97039, The Dalles Red Cross, 1100 E Marina Way, Hood River, OR 
97031 and The Sherman County Food Bank.
