She was 58. Ida was born Jan. 26, 1937 in Pendleton to Edgar and Bertha (Roberts) Bloom. She attended school in Echo, Hermiston, and Pendleton, graduating from Pendleton High School. She began work for a telephone company at age 16, and married Clayton Neil at age 18, moving to Darby, Mont. After having four boys, they were divorced, and Ida and the boys moved back to the Pendleton area, where she worked as a waitress. She married Don Martin in July 1966, and they lived in Pilot Rock, Hillsboro, Wishram, Baker and finally settled in Rufus 12 years ago. She enjoyed camping and playing games with her family, and she liked to crochet. Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband Donald and son Larry Neil, both of Rufus; sons John Neil of Drain, Rick Neil of West Covina, Calif.; and Randy Neil of Goldendale; stepmother Elmo Bloom, Hermiston and 12 brothers and sisters: Ed Bloom, Pilot Rock; Kathryn Haas, Portland; Barbara Workman, Mt. Vernon; Harry Bloom, Lewiston, Idaho; Bill Bloom, Hermiston; Donald Bloom, Gresham; Karen Girton, Wasco; Allen, Elmer and Samuel Bloom, all of Utah; James Whaley of Umatilla; and Charles Whaley of Bella Coola, BC; and nine grandchildren. Viewing visitation was at Smith Callaway Chapel July 27 and 28; graveside services were at Sunrise Cemetery, Wasco, on July 29, the Rev. Tim Foster officiating. Memorial contributions: Hospice of the Gorge in care of Smith Callaway Chapel, 311 Union, The Dalles.
