The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 15, 1984
Samuel W. Markman, 68, died Nov. 4, in Stockton, Calif.

He was born in West Salem, Ill., June 2, 1916.  His family moved to The Dalles 
in 1928.  He attended The Dalles High School.  He enlisted in the U.S. Marines 
in 1938 and made the service his career, retiring in 1958.

Mr. markman was a veteran of World War II and a member of Ed Stewart Post #803 
American Legion and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #391.

He is survived by his wife Gladys of Stockton, sister LaVange Powers of 
Lexington, Ky., brother Marvin Markman of The Dalles, and several nieces and 
nephews.
