Wakley iwakley@msn.com June 2, 2006, 1:31 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 15, 2006 James Harold Mann, 63, a resident of The Dalles, died at the local hospital on Saturday, April 15, 2006. He was born in Prineville, on April 20, 1942, the second of six children to David and Gladys (Murphy) Altier. When he was a young man he was adopted by Harold and Gladys Mann. He grew up and graduated from high school in Brookings. He married Amy Altier in Oregon in 1963. He became a bookkeeper in his early years, also working in bartending and catering, and in adult foster care. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks, American Legion and Eagles. He stayed very active with Moose Lodge activities, with honors of past governor of the lodge and past president of state board and held the office of assistant deputy regional manager at his death. He is survived by his two children, Deanna Valles and her husband Carlos, Reno, Nev., and Carolyn Bower, Olathe, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Charmaine and her husband Bill, Carlos and his wife Alicia, Andres, Krystle, Kellen, Emily, Steven, Amy, Christopher and Guy; five great-grandchildren, Billy, Sarah, Dylan, Ayden and Victoria; three brothers, Dave, George and Johnny; two sisters, Grace and Anne; his aunt Alma and his uncle Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22, at 11:30 a.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Chapel with Asa Jenson officiating. Private family burial will be at IOOF Three Mile Cemetery. There will be a Moose Service on April 22, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow. Memorials may be made to the Moose Lodge 2075, Moose Heart/Moose Haven.
