She was born April 3, 1963 in Minot, ND, the third of four children to Lawrence and Mary (Rainwater) Ralph and grew up in Unionville, Conn. Following her graduation from Wethersfield High School she worked at several jobs, including as a certified nursing assistant and in construction trades, where she operated her own business doing sandblasting and roofing. Mostly she worked in restaurant management and had a dream of someday opening her own restaurant. She married James J. Malinowski on Sept. 27, 1998. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, boating, photography and computer photo processing, and spending time with people. A devoted outdoors-woman, she fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and its mountains and scenic vistas. She especially enjoyed the Oregon Coast and spending time at Rockaway Beach. Her love for people led her to become an organ donor in the hope of providing benefit to others from her death. Survivors include her husband James of Appleton; her children, Thomas and Michael Piazza of Massachusetts, Mary Rood of Medford, Joseph Lebel of Sarasota, Fla., Martin and Julie Winiarsky of East Hampton, Conn., stepchildren Chris Malinowsky in Connecticut and Heather Boutin of Bangor, Wash. Also surviving are her father, Lawrence Ralph, of Lemhi, Idaho; brothers Larry Ralph of Eldorado, Kan.; and John Ralph of Wichita, Kan., and grandchildren Rebecca Lyn and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Donna Ralph. In accordance with her wishes the family will observe private ceremonies of remembrance. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to The American Liver Foundation, Pacific Northwest Chapter, 2033 Sixth Avenue, Suite 260, Seattle Wash., 98121.
