The Dalles Weekly Reminder, April 22, 1988
Irene May Malcom, 65, a resident of The Dalles for the past 22 years, died at 
the local hospital Thursday, April 14, 1988.

She was born Dec. 28,1922, in Pringly, S.D., to David and Ethel (Pierce) 
Harris. 

Survivors include four sons, Marvin E. Mattox, Aurora, Colo.; David R. 
Hackler, Bennett, Colo.; Larry R. Hackler, The Dalles; and Terry B. Hackler, 
Aurora; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her mother, Ethel 
Strait, Boulder, Colo.; three brothers, Dale, and Dewey Harris, The Dalles, 
and Don Harris, Aurora; and two sisters, Betty Hager, Weiser, Idaho, and 
Maxine Chalfant, Broomfield, Colo.

Funeral services were at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home Monday, April 
18, 1988 with the Rev. Thornton Gapen officiating.  Burial followed at The 
Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
