The Dalles Weekly Reminder, June 2, 1983
     Marjorie C. Maier, 73, a resident of The Dalles since 1918, died Friday 
at Mid-Columbia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
     She was born June 23, 1909 in Baker City.
     Mrs. Maier was a member of Chapter BFPEO Sisterhood, and for many years 
was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, The Dalles Country Club and the 
Thursday Duplicate Bridge group.
     Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. John (Janet) Charlton, Portland; a 
sister, Thelma Schenk, Walnut Creek, Calif., and three grandchildren, Stephen, 
Scott and Jennifer Charlton.
     Her husband, Henry J., died in 1974.
     Funeral services were yesterday (Wednesday) at Smith Callaway Chapel with 
the Rev. Martin Quigley officiating.  Private vault interment followed at St. 
Peter Catholic Cemetery.
     Casketbearers included Ralph Stearns, Stan Mayfield, Farwell Booth, Ed 
Geiger, Buzz DeFrate and Dr. Paul Vogt.
     Contributions are suggested to the St. Mary's Building Trust Fund, or a 
favorite charity.
