    John Harold Magoon, 66, The Dalles, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at the local 
hospital.
     He was born Dec. 30, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Harold J. and Fern 
(Jorgenson) Magoon. He married Elizabeth J. Chilson on May 23, 1972 in Coeur 
d’Alene, Idaho. He worked as a miner for the Coeur Mining Co. in the Idaho 
panhandle for 19 years, then worked as a truck driver and mechanic until his 
retirement in 1997.
     He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and fishing.
     Survivors include his wife, Betty, of The Dalles; eight children and 
their families; Duane and his wife Dora Magoon of Bunkerville, Nevada, Rod and 
his wife Tanya Magoon of Winnemucca, Nev., Deanna and her husband Don Hamilton 
of Carlin, Nev., Barbara and her husband Kyle Hirsch of Spring Creek, Nev., 
Harold and his wife Daniele of Winnemucca, Lynnette and her husband Jeff 
Housley and Ken and his wife Denise of Carlin, and Cathy Magoon of Elko, Nev. 
Also surviving are two brothers, Gary of The Dalles and Garold and his wife 
Lois of Vancouver, Wash., and a half-brother, Jerry Pikell. There are 22 
grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 
son Robert in 1985 and his first wife Betty Jean in 1968.
     Graveside services will be held at the Osburn City Cemetery in Osburn, 
Idaho at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003. Viewing visitation will be held 
at Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg, Idaho from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 
Wednesday. 
     Local arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
