The Dalles Weekly Reminder, December 15, 1995
     Albert Lutz, 92, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care center on 
Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1995.
     He was born March 11, 1903 in Sofiewka, Moldova (formerly Romania and 
Russia), the youngest of eight children of German parents, Johann and Johanna 
(Steinhilb) Lutz).
     He married Lilly Flaig on May 23, 1933, in Sofiewka.  In 1940, they were 
part of a massive re-settlement into Germany.  As refugees after World War II, 
he and his family were sponsored by the Zion Lutheran Church in The Dalles, to 
immigrate to the United States in 1952.
     Albert worked for Union Pacific Railroad and for School District 12 until 
his retirement.  They moved to Pine Hollow in 1975 and lived there until 
returning to The Dalles in 1989.
     He was a member of Wamic Community Church.
     He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lilly of The Dalles; seven 
children:  Alma Goeckel, Hulda Rumble, Hugo Lutz and Walter Lutz, all of The 
Dalles, Helmut Lutz of Portland, Albert Lutz of Bothell, Wash. and Irmgard 
Lutz of Aloha; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
     Viewing visitation was at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on 
Thursday, Dec. 14.  Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Baptist Church on 
Friday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tim Foster officiating.  Interment 
followed at Parklawn Cemetery.
     Memorials:  Emmanuel Baptist Church Memorial Fund, sent in care of 
Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles.
