The Dalles Weekly Reminder,  June 19, 1987
     Leroy F. Lucas, 65, died June 16 in The Dalles.  He had been a resident 
here for 28 years.
     Mr. Lucas was born April 30, 1922 in Crane, Ore.  He worked for the J. H. 
Baxter Wood Treatment Plant from 1959 until his retirement in 1984.  He was a 
member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the American 
Legion, Lumber Production and Industrial Workers Local Union #2785 and had 
served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II.
     He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Lucas, who he married in Banbridge, 
Northern Ireland in 1944; two sons, Brennen Lucas of Wolfeboro, N.H., and 
Kevin Lucas of Portland; three daughters, Brenda Trapp of The Dalles, Alice 
Farrarin of Portland and Noreen Lucas of The Dalles; 12 grandchildren; a 
brother, Danny Lucas of Pullman, Wash.; three sisters, Grace Thompson of 
Kelso, Lilly Spellman of Grants Pass and Rosella Jeffers of Troy, Ida.; 
numerous nieces and nephews.
     Recitation of the rosary will be tonight (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. at 
Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.  The Requiem Mass of Christian Burial 
will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Martin 
Quigley as celebrant.  Interment will follow at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.  
Casketbearers will be Joe and John Miller, Don O'Toole, Percy Ballinger, 
Joseph Yragui and Malcolm O'Brien.  Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School 
Foundation.
