Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 22, 2006, 9:01 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, May 24, 1984 Dovel Davidson Lipker, 81, died at the local hospital last Saturday. He was a resident of The Dalles for the past five years and formerly a resident of Hood River and Bend. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on Aug. 9, 1902. Mr. Lipker served in the U.S. Marines in World War I and World War II. He had been a retail furniture salesman before his retirement. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star. He had been a volunteer at Columbia Basin Nursing Home for the past two years. Survivors include his wife, Norma, The Dalles, whom he married in October of 1983; a daughter, Judy Warrington, Salem; two grandsons, Corey and Jason, and a great-granddaughter, Sarah; three step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday. The Rev. Mitch Martin, pastor Ron Coleman and the Rev. Troy Smith officiated. Cremation followed in Portland. Memorials may be made to the Dovel Lipker Memorial Fund at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
