Wakley iwakley@msn.com and July 10, 2006, 12:07 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, March 3, 1983 Paul Elvin Lewis, 56, a lifelong resident of the Maupin area, died Feb. 23 at his ranch. He was born March 19, 1926 in The Dalles. Mr. Lewis operated his ranch, raising cattle and race horses until his death. He was a member of the Oregon Thoroughbred Horse Association and the Oregon and American Quarter Horse Associations. Survivors include his wife, Emily Lewis, whom he married in Eugene in 1950; one son, Tony Lewis, Maupin; five daughters, Paulette Lewis, Fairbanks, Alaska; Lynn Harris, Terrebonne; Lorene Lewis, Portland; Randi Lewis, Bend, and LaVonne Lewis, Tucson, Ariz.; one grandson, Cody Bill Harris, Terrebonne; his mother Mrs. Charles (Olva) Lewis, Maupin and one sister, Mrs. Bud (Agnes) Morris, Maupin. Memorial funeral services were Friday at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Thornton Gapen officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Oregon Heart Association or the Maupin Ambulance Fund.
