Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 23, 2006, 3:16 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, December 8, 1995 Lloyd "Sparky" Lester Lewis died Dec. 3, 1995 at his home in The Dalles. He was 83. He was born April 30, 1912, in Coin, Iowa, to Wallace J. and Caraline (Dyke) Lewis. He moved to The Dalles area in the mid-1930s. He married Harriet E. Howell on Oct. 10, 1941 in Spokane, Wash. He served in the US Navy during World War II, then returned to The Dalles. Following the war, he started with Wasco Electric Coop, working there until his medical retirement in 1966. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He enjoyed farming and working with livestock. Mr. Lewis is survived by five sons, George of Sunnyvale, Calif., Wallace of The Dalles, Dennis and his wife Zada of Wamic, Donald and his wife Theresa of The Dalles, and Roger and his fiancee Denise of Rainier; and two step- grandchildren, Sara and William Wilde. Viewing visitation was held Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 with funeral services Dec. 7 at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Maag officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Hospice of the Gorge, in care of Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles.
