The Dalles Weekly Reminder, January 15, 1988
Mella C. Leibrand, 91, died at her home in The Dalles Jan. 7.  She was a 
resident here for 33 years.

Mrs. Leibrand was born Sept. 1, 1896, in Joplin, Mo.  She was raised in Dufur 
and married Chester Leibrand.  They were farmers and grocers in Ohio until 
1946, when they moved to The Dalles.  She worked at the Cherry Cooperative.  
For hobbies, she enjoyed growing a garden, cooking and visiting.

She is survived by five children; George Leibrand of Frankfurt, Germany, Vera 
Zeiher of Columbus, Chester Leibrand of Norfolk, Virg., Carol Heilman of 
Portland; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-
grandchildren; a sister.  Her husband, Chester, preceded her in death in 1984.

Funeral services were held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home officiated 
by Rev. Edward Morrison.
