He was born Aug. 9, 1920, in Milwaukee, Wis., the only child to Burton and Marie (Kuntz) Leatherdale. He grew up in Wisconsin and joined the U.S. Army at age 17, serving through WWII. Later he joined the U.S. Air Force serving in Korea and Vietnam for a total of 23 years in the military before retiring. He also worked for the Civil Service for a total of 21 years before settling in Dallesport in the early 1990’s. He is survived by family members, Tamara, Lynn, Pam, Jackie, Jim, Larry and their extended family members. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica. Graveside memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Smith Callaway Chapel in care of arrangements.
